    Dear Fellow Statisticians,

We are pleased to announce an exciting seminar on clinical trial innovation as part of the ISBS Webinar Series. The seminar, titled "What you may not know about ITT" will be held on September 19, 2025, 10am-11am ET, featuring distinguished speaker Dr. Naitee Ting from StatsVita, who.is also an Adjunct Professor of Statistics at University of Connecticut, and an Adjunct Professor of Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University.

    Abstract:
In analysis of clinical data for treatment efficacy, statisticians follow the intention to treat (ITT) principle. But it is usually not clear why we follow this principle. ITT has two requirements – 1. Including all trial participants; and 2. Analyze as randomized. The first requirement is easily understandable because for regulatory agencies to approve any new drug, the agency has to review all of the trial data – sponsors are not allowed to hide anything (transparency). As to the reason for "analyze as randomized" requirement, this is less likely to be covered in statistical training. This webinar will clarify this point.
