    Hello everyone,

The organizing committee of FedGeoDay would like to share that we have some great workshops available on the 2nd day of FedGeoDay.   Tickets for some workshops are very limited and are filling up fast.   The location of the workshops are located at the American Red Cross [American Red Cross Building,1730 E Street NW,  Washington, DC 20006].

Each require a separate ticket from the main FedGeoDay sessions.  Click here to see all the options and to obtain tickets.

    ·  Intro to Using Open Science As an Enabler for Government and Public Sector Applications, led by Rachel Opitz of the Open Geospatial Consortium

o This interactive workshop will introduce the Open Geospatial Consortium's recently launched initiative to develop an Open Science Persistent Demonstrator (OSPD), sponsored by NASA and ESA.

o Cost: $30.  Lunch is included with the workshop

    ·  Getting Started With Geoserver: Data Configuration and Styling, led by Internationally-recognized GeoServer leader, Andrea Aime

o This workshop will get your started with GeoServer, with training from one of the world's leading web services software developers

o Cost: $30.  Lunch is included with the workshop

    o Tickets are very limited

Wednesday Afternoon, May 1, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

    ·  What Is a Vector Db and Why Should Geospatial People Care, led by well known AI and Geospatial Data Analytics expert, Steve Pousty

o The recent rise of "AI," and its potential impact, has made it the focus of discussion (and hype).  This workshop provides hands-on work with vector data and use cases. Attendees will be able to answer questions such as: What are these "vectors," where do they come from, how do you query them, what are their use cases, and what role are they going to play in your existing infrastructure?

o Cost: $30.  Lunch is included with the workshop

    ·  Building and Consuming Urban Digital Twins with Open-Source Tools, led by renowned Digital Cartographer and UI/UX Designer, Stefano Bovio

o Participants will gain exclusive insights into the development and exploitation of digital twins, drawing upon the GeoSolutions team's extensive experience with urban reconstruction projects.

o Cost: $30.  Lunch is included with the workshop

    o Tickets are very limited

    ·  Preparing for the Impending Modernization of the U.S. National Spatial Reference System and Impacts on Federal Geospatial Data Providers and Users, led by Charles Geoghegan, Dan Roman and Galen Scott of NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS)

o Currently, NGS is in the process of modernizing the NSRS, updating the existing horizontal datums with a suite of geometric reference frames and the vertical datums with a gravimetrically-derived geopotential datum. This workshop is for US Federal Agency employees and partners who are responsible for collecting and maintaining geospatial datasets, collecting new geodetic information for geospatial observations, and any other geospatial information.

In 2026, the spatial reference frames for all federal geospatial data will change, impacting nearly all government agencies and their product suites.

o This session is free, but a lunch ticket (for lunch 12-1) is available for separate purchase (must be ordered ahead of time).

    Thank you,

    Mike
