Dear ASA members,
The Monroe G. Sirken Award in Interdisciplinary Survey Methods Research was established in 2014 to recognize a distinguished researcher for contributions to interdisciplinary survey research that have improved the theory and methods of collecting, verifying, processing, presenting, or analyzing survey data.
The American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) joined the American Statistical Association (ASA) as co-sponsor of the award in 2017. Since AAPOR hosts the 2024 award, the focus is on contributions to survey research through the application of theories and methods of the social, psychological, and cognitive sciences.
The awardee will be selected by a joint AAPOR-ASA committee. The honoree will give the Sirken Lecture (an invited paper) at the AAPOR's 2024 annual conference in May 2024 and receive a $5,000 honorarium and an award citation. (Registration for the conference will be complimentary, but travel will not be covered.)
The previous awardees were Norman Bradburn in 2015, Eleanor Singer in 2016, Michael Brick in 2017, Colm O'Muircheartaigh in 2018, Judith Lessler in 2019, Roger Tourangeau in 2020, Edith de Leeuw in 2021, Trivellore Raghunathan (Raghu) in 2022, and Andrew Gelman in 2023.
