The Federal Judicial Center's Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, which contains a chapter on statistics and research methods, is being updated for the fourth time. The chapter include a list of references arranged into three categories: general surveys (introductory texts or books on statistical reasoning that do not require much knowledge of mathematics); reference works for lawyers and judges (books or monographs with the legal profession as the intended audience), and general references (less elementary but authoritative and possibly encyclopedic works on the methods that might be encountered in litigation). The list is intended to be lean. Nominations, as it were, for the most outstanding items to include in any of these categories would be welcome. Suggestions can be sent offline.
