    [Apologies for cross-listing]

The Orange County Chapter of the ASA is excited to host its 2023 OC Biostatistics Symposium on 29-30 Sep 2023. The theme of the symposium is innovative designs in expediting drug and device development. The symposium offers a great opportunity to hear from leading statistical and pharmaceutical/medical device experts from industry, academics, and regulatory agencies on their experience and practice of bringing innovation to the development of drugs and devices. The symposium focuses on topics related to recent advances in methodology and applications related to complex innovation trial design, master protocols, gene and cell therapy, and real-world evidence-based research. The symposium also focuses on recent advances in the application of AI/ML methodologies in drug development. In addition, we are bringing academic researchers and students to present their research on the above topics.

This 2-day event will include a keynote session with panel discussions on Days 1 and 2; parallel tracks of invited and contributed presentations in clinical and statistics, data science and analytics, and academic research areas; and poster sessions.

For the poster session, we invite undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral trainees to submit a poster abstract. The poster session at the symposium provides an excellent opportunity to promote the exchange of ideas and information and facilitate networking opportunities within the statistics community. In addition, presenting a poster will provide the students with an opportunity to showcase their work to industry as well as academic professionals.

More information on the poster session can be accessed at the conference website, and abstract submission is via this form before August 11th. This year, the poster committee will present awards in three categories – the best visualization, the best statistical analysis, and the best insight. Registration fees for the symposium will be waived for undergraduate and graduate student poster presenters.

Note that although the data applications in the posters should be from medical studies, we also welcome research in other fields, such as environment and public policy with public health/medical components. In addition, students graduating this summer are also eligible.
