FYI -- Steve
===============
Good afternoon,
I am writing to invite you to a virtual town hall to be held on October 8, 2021 organized by the IDA Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) on behalf of the National Science Foundation (NSF) on the subject of "Data Science Education."
NSF's Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) is organizing a series of workshops and listening sessions as part of its efforts to explore possible future directions and venues for STEM learning and education. This, the fifth meeting in the series, is intended to stimulate discussion with respect to the definition of "data science", ethical issues related to data science, teaching and learning of data science concepts and skills, and issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion related to data science. It is not intended to make recommendations to NSF.
The town hall will take place virtually, from 10 AM to 3:45 PM Eastern time. A draft agenda is attached. You may register for the meeting here: https://ida-org.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/vJIscumhpj4tE8JYy5Zv5xG7nh2TgLznaTg
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or Dr. Michael Davis (mdavis@nsf.gov) or Dr. Finbarr Sloane (fsloane@nsf.gov) at NSF.
Sincerely,
Rina
