    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    The University of Michigan, School of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified faculty member for a full time position with our Applied Biostatistics Laboratory (ABL) and Office of Research. 

    The ABL collaborates with School of Nursing faculty, providing expertise in statistical and research design, data management, visualization, and quality control, sample size justification, and statistical analyses.  We collaborate as co-investigators or consultants on grant proposals and manuscripts, and offer statistical consulting services for pilot research. We assist with the preparation and revisions of research grants and manuscripts, primarily contributing to the experimental design, sample size and power calculations, randomization protocols, data safety and monitoring plans, and statistical analysis.  Members of the ABL are regularly challenged to expand their knowledge and expertise to encompass a wide variety of research designs and settings, and also present seminars to School of Nursing faculty and students.  

    The position is expected to be filled during the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants will be considered for the ranks listed above, depending on experience and research productivity. Diversity is highly valued and applications from members of groups underrepresented in nursing are encouraged.

     QUALIFICATIONS

    • A doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field is required.
    • Demonstrated research productivity; the ability to conduct independent research with the promise of developing into an independent scholar.
    • Peer reviewed publications.
    • Potential evidence of extramural funding.
    • Must be proficient with general statistical software (SAS, Stata, SPSS or R) and one or more specific software (e.g., HLM, WinBUGS, Amos, PASS, Optimal Design).
    • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums. You will be expected to have solid interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, and a drive to excel are expected.
    • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects is required.
    • Statistical consulting experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience in conducting analysis of continuous and categorical data, hierarchical or clustered data (e.g., with patients nested within hospital units), handling of missing data, interrupted time series/segmented regression analysis, survival analysis, causal inference, propensity score analysis, survival analysis, Bayesian methods, and GEE analysis desired.
