For statisticians interested in getting more engaged in gun violence research, with current experts in the field -- this workshop is for you!
The Inaugural Ingram Olkin Forum: Gun Violence - The Statistical Issues workshop will explore the role of statistics and data science in advancing our understanding of gun violence. Firearm homicides surpassed 14,000 in 2016. Statistics should have a prominent role in analyzing gun violence data, evaluating gun violence interventions, and developing the evidence base to support policy making on this issue.
When: June 26-27, 2019 at the ASA headquarters, Alexandria, VA.
Discussions will include analyses of trends in gun violence, new sources of gun violence data, gun crime investigations, police shootings, effect of laws on gun violence, firearm forensics, and illegal gun markets. Presenters include statisticians, economists, and criminologists conducting research on gun violence.
