The Department of Biostatistics in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (RSCPHSW) at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL, seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Stempel College has approximately 80 faculty in Public Health, Dietetics and Nutrition, Social Work, and Disaster Preparedness. Uniquely located in Miami, FL, at the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, Stempel College faculty work to solve complex health and social welfare problems affecting underserved populations including environmental health issues, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental health outcomes, and racial/ethnic disparities.
The Department of Biostatistics is a growing group looking to be on the cutting edge of statistical science, as the discipline is rapidly changing and evolving. The department is seeking candidates with expertise in biostatistics and data science. All areas of research are of interest, although candidates with experience in big data analytics, biomedical informatics, statistical genetics, or computing are especially encouraged to apply.
A doctoral degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Statistical Data Science or related field is required.
Preference will be given to applicants with a promising record of applied and methodological publications; experience in consulting with other researchers; evidence of effective teaching; and the ability to work with diverse teams of colleagues. Preference also will be given to candidates with experience in applied public health or clinical research.
Responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching several graduate courses per year and supervision of both master and doctoral level students; collaborative and applied research mainly with faculty in health sciences (including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants); methodological research leading to peer-reviewed publications and grant funding; consulting within the Biostatistics Consulting Service Center; and providing other academic services to the Stempel College and FIU.
