Assistant Professor in Actuarial Science
The Division of Statistics at Northern Illinois University (NIU) is in the process of becoming the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. One of the new department's priorities will be to grow and improve the actuarial program at NIU, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Center of Actuarial Excellence. The Division is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in actuarial science. The candidate must have a PhD in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field, and be able to demonstrate the ability to develop a highly successful independent research program in actuarial science. Successful candidates are expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in both actuarial science and statistics, and should have a strong potential for generating external funding for their research program. It is desirable that prospective candidates have achieved at least the level of Associate of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society. Otherwise, they are expected to achieve this designation before being granted tenure. It would also be desirable if they continue their efforts until they have achieved the designation of Fellow. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the new department's pursuit of becoming a Center of Actuarial Excellence.
