The Department of Statistics at Northwestern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction position. The department currently offers BA, MS, and PhD programs in statistics and BA in data science, with rapidly growing undergraduate programs. This is a full-time benefits-eligible position, and the appointment will begin September 1, 2022. The primary duties of Assistant Professor of Instruction will be to work with the other faculty to enhance the undergraduate programs in statistics and data science. The main responsibilities include teaching six one-quarter courses per year, advising undergraduate students, and participating in departmental affairs including governance.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in statistics, data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field by September 1, 2022. Demonstrated excellence in teaching in one or more areas of statistics or data science, which may include (but not limited to) introductory statistics, machine learning, data structures and algorithms, data management with relational database, etc. Excellent computing skills and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
