In the 1990s, UK miners were dying of diseases many thought were associated with coal dust exposure. Could the diseases be explained by other risk factors such as smoking or was dust exposure a significant factor?  The father of today's S+S guest, Jonny Jacobsen (@jonnymcj), was a researcher trained in statistics and epidemiology who worked to answer this question. This story and more are discussed with Jonny Jacobsen.
