    The Georgetown University Graduate Analytics Program invites applications for a full-time non-tenure line position for an assistant teaching professor, starting in the fall of 2019.

    The successful candidate will teach three graduate-level courses per semester (Fall and Spring) and will participate in administrative tasks, such as admissions and advising.

    The three-year term for this academic appointment is August 1, 2019 to May 31, 2022.  

    The Analytics Program offers a Master of Science Degree in Analytics with a concentration in Data Sciences. With its location in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University provides opportunities to connect with government agencies as well as high-tech industries. The Analytics Program maintains considerable and continuous relationships with local and non-local companies, offers regular seminars and career fairs, and promotes a strong sense of community among faculty and students.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates must possess a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or must have completed all requirements for the PhD degree by August 1, 2019. 
    • Candidates must have strong programming skills, especially in R and Python3, and knowledge and experience with data science and analytics, data structures and algorithms, data visualization, massive data, and statistical and machine learning.
    • Candidates must possess both teaching experience and a clear interest in working with and advising students.
    • Experience with curriculum planning and student advising is preferred.
    • Preference may be given to applicants who possess a strong massive data background (Big Data management such as Spark, Hadoop, MapReduce, etc.) as well as a strong background in data visualization.
