The 2020 Writing Workshop will take place virtually following JSM on August 7 and 14, hosted by NISS and sponsored by NSF, ASA, IMS, ICSA, and WNAR. The goal of this workshop is to provide instruction for writing journal articles and grant proposals. Participants will be required to provide a recent sample of their writing, which will be reviewed by a senior mentor. The writing sample could be a draft of an article to be submitted for publication or an early version of a grant proposal. The workshop is designed for new researchers and young professionals who are within seven years of the Ph.D. The deadline for the application submission is June 30, with notification of acceptance on a rolling basis no later than July 15.

The 2020 Writing Workshop consists of three parts: (1) one-on-one mentorship and critique of writing samples, (2) five tutorials on technical writing, reviewing, collaborations, and ethics, and (3) panel sessions on journals, grants, and experiences and career development. The workshop is designed for new researchers who are within seven years of the Ph.D. More information will be posted at https://www.niss.org/events/2020-niss-writing-workshop-junior-researchers-jsm.
