As a statistician and/or data scientist, have you ever considered a career in a government agency that collects and analyzes data to enable policy decisions?

National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS) is proud to sponsor its first virtual government career fair on January 8th (Wednesday) 12-1pm ET. The fair will feature career opportunities at three government agencies: Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and the United States Census Bureau. This is the third in a series of virtual career fairs hosted by NISS. Recordings of the first career fair could be found here while recordings of the second career fair will be made available to the public in January 2020.

The career fair is for students and faculty (at all levels) who may be interested in learning about career opportunities in BLS, NASS and Census. The career fair may also be of interest to those who are considering a career change to work in these three government agencies.

The Career Fair will be conducted using Zoom. To register for the virtual career fair, your organization needs to be a NISS affiliate. Please check the list of NISS affiliates to see if your organization is a NISS affiliate. If you qualify to register, please use your .edu, .gov or .com email address to register using this link (or https://psu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_NyC1_NhRTOupcyBfilpWDg).

While the live event is limited to NISS affiliates, NISS will make video recordings from the event available to the public one month after the event took place.

Each presenter has 15 minutes to address the follow general topics:

    1. What are the job opportunities for statisticians/data scientists/analysts in your organization?
