    Main responsibilities

    As a Senior Research Statistician you will be using your statistics expertise in drug discovery projects and therapeutic areas to identify and deliver solutions for addressing key biological questions. To answer defined biological questions you will build or internalize appropriate algorithms and techniques, and implement and develop solutions with appropriate software.

    You will build knowledge of quantitative biology capabilities across R&D and contribute to and lead local and global projects for the Quantitative Biology department. Ensuring that results are scientifically robust and documented, will be vitally important.

    Essential requirements

    • Strong quantitative background (MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or equivalent).  
    • Broad experience in statistical data analysis, and knowledge of at least some of the following areas: experimental design, linear/nonlinear models, mixed effect models, Bayesian methods, and statistical/machine learning.
    • Programming proficiency and experience with relevant software tools such as R, Shiny, Stan, and/or SAS.
    • Excellent consulting, communication, and presentation skills, especially in communicating statistical concepts to non-statisticians.

    Desirable requirements

    • Basic understanding of cell biology and human physiology.
    • Knowledge of other languages e.g. Python/pandas/scikit-learn is useful (but not required), as is familiarity with tools used by biologists such as Prism, JMP and Spotfire.
