    Dear Colleagues,

    The Department of Statistics at the University of Connecticut will host the
    31st New England Statistics Symposium (NESS) on Friday and Saturday, April
    21--22, 2017. More information can be found at http://ness.stat.uconn.edu.

    Keynote speakers: Prof. David Madigan of Columbia University
    and Prof. Xihong Lin of Harvard University.

    Invited sessions: 20 invited sessions covering a wide variety of
    theory/methods/applications.

    Three full day short courses on Friday, April 21, 2017:
    ``Fitting mixed-effects models using the Julia language'' by Dr. Douglas Bates
    of University of Wisconsin--Madison; ``Practical Integrative
    Statistical Learning: Recent developments and Case Studies'' by Drs.
    Robert Aseltine of UConn Health and Kun Chen of University of
    Connecticut; and ``Subgroup Analysis and Treatment Scoring with
    Application in Precision Medicine'' by Dr. Menggang Yu of University
    of Wisconsin-Madison.

    IBM Watson Research Lab Student Paper Competition: submission deadline
    March 20, 2017.

    Liberty Mutual Student Poster Competition: submission deadline April 3, 2017.
