Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biostatistics in Canada
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in biostatistics, with specific emphasis on correlated data (mixed models) with applications in infectious diseases. In particular, the successful candidate will develop novel statistical models to simultaneously study multiple infectious disease outcomes and analyze related infectious disease datasets. The position will be based at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo or the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, depending on the suitability of each of these locations as determined through discussions with the candidate. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Charmaine Dean (https://uwaterloo.ca/statistics-and-actuarial-science/people-profiles/charmaine-dean) and Professor Mahmoud Torabi (http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~torabi/).
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Bio/statistics, or a related field. He/she will have strong skills in statistics, computing and mathematical modeling, and a demonstrated record of research. This position is partly supported by the recent funded project from Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute-Collaborative Research Team (CANSSI-CRT) entitled "Spatial Modeling of Infectious Diseases: Environment and Health".
The salary is based on applicant's qualification and will be competitive.
The position will ideally commence on or before September 1, 2018. It is a one year position with possible renewal for second year subject to progress on the research.
