The Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences, with support of the Quantitative Sciences Unit (QSU) in the Department of Medicine's Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford University School of Medicine, seeks a Biostatistician to join its faculty as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Research Line. Applicants should have a PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field, and an outstanding record doing team science or collaborative biostatistics with an emphasis in clinical or translational science. Areas of methodological expertise may include statistical genetics, genomics, epidemiology, prediction modeling, survival analysis, trial design, causal inference, bioinformatics, and clinical informatics.
Criteria for the position include demonstrated ability to obtain peer-reviewed research funding or the potential to secure such funding, excellence in team science, collaborative biostatistics, teaching, and mentoring appropriate to the programmatic needs of the Department of Neurology and the QSU.
The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Research Line is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists. Their accomplishments during graduate and postgraduate training should already have stamped them as creative and promising investigators. Evidence of the ability to obtain external funding is desirable.
Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
We expect the successful candidate to develop an externally funded independent research agenda in methods development. We also expect the candidate to serve as senior statistician on a variety of Neurology's observational and/or experimental studies, which involves mentoring junior statisticians as well as clinical and translational scientists in research methods. The candidate is expected to identify and resolve methodological issues that arise in collaborative research, as a major expectation is to identify areas of methodological research in which to engage that will benefit the candidate's collaborative research.
