    The Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences (STAD) at Central Michigan University invites applications for the department Chair position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and may include tenure, starting August 22, 2022. Candidates should have a strong record of publishing and external funding as well as strong evidence of effective leadership in an academic setting. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active research program, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, provide a vision for strengthening the department, and oversee the launch of the data science program. The regular teaching load is two courses per academic year and additional compensation of half-time summer administrative appointment. A PhD in statistics, actuarial science, data science or related field is required.

    The Department was officially launched in fall 2019. The department offers PhD in Statistics and Analytics, MS in Applied Statistics and Analytics, graduate certificate programs in Data Mining and in Actuarial Science, BS in Actuarial Science, BS in Statistics, and a BS in Data Science to be launched in fall 2022.The department has eight tenured faculty with active research in distributions, modeling, Bayesian analysis, actuarial and risk analysis, data analytics and statistics education. The department currently has about 40 students in the graduate programs and 80 undergraduates.  The Department manages a Statistical Consulting Center and provides a dynamic environment for teaching, research and collaborations across disciplines.
