    Indiana University Simon Cancer Center (IUSCC) and the Regenstrief Institute are searching for a senior data scientist or informatician to serve as Director of the Cancer Informatics and Data Sciences program.

     Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the leadership of IUSCC, Regenstrief Institute, and the Data Science and Informatics (DSI) program of Precision Health Initiative (PHI) to develop a strategy for team science and translation into healthcare practice
    • Enhance the collection, analysis, and integration of rich and complex clinical, genomic, and population level data set
    • Lead efforts to establish a model of team science with intra-and inter-institutional shared resources and establish a medical informatics and data analytics shared resource
    • Recruit, manage and grow a world-class team to rapidly accelerate discovery in cancer research and precision oncology
    • Guide educational program development in the nascent area of precision oncology

    • Faculty appointment to the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Regenstrief Institute with its unparalleled health data, informatics, data analytics resources, as well as internationally recognized faculty and staff.
    • The IU Simon Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center in the state of Indiana. This designation recognizes centers around the country that meet rigorous criteria for world-class, state-of-the-art programs in multidisciplinary research. The IU Simon Cancer Center puts significant resources into developing research programs, faculty and facilities that will lead to better approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
    • IU School of Medicine's Precision Health Initiative, a $120 million investment to place Indiana University at the cutting edge of healthcare
    • Indiana CTSI, which fosters collaborations with researchers at Notre Dame and Purdue Universities

     Minimum Qualifications:

    • MD, PhD, or equivalent with experience in biomedical informatics, biostatistics, computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related discipline.
    • At least 10 years of biomedical informatics and data science experience, with an emphasis in cancer research, biomedical informatics, biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, or precision oncology
    • Established leadership credentials and novel research
