    Posted 01-03-2021 07:38

This degree provides a high-quality foundation in health research methodology and analysis through collaboration with faculty as well as community and clinical mentors. Currently, our faculty are working on a wide range of projects, including the development and implementation of dynamic modeling for COVID-19 disease transmission, public health strategies, and vaccination distribution. Additional projects include health disparities research and policy evaluation, including statewide and national mandates pertaining to the opioid epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic. Assistantships in research and teaching give students opportunities to work on these funded research projects and build skills in:

    Statistical and mathematical modeling

    Epidemiological research design and analysis

    Policy and Health economics analysis

    Clinical and community-based intervention effectiveness

    Bioinformatics

Students with experience or coursework in research and statistics or those with a strong quantitative background are preferred.

We are now accepting applications, and students can click on the following link to apply for the PhD program: https://www.clemson.edu/cbshs/departments/public-health/academics/graduate-programs/phd-applied-health-research-evaluation.html

While there is not a set deadline to apply for this program (new cohorts only begin in the fall), faculty begin interviewing PhD applicants in February. Priority will be given to students submitting their materials by January 31st.

Our first PhD students were admitted in 2014, all graduates have gone on to accept faculty and post-doc positions in academic and clinical settings.
