    Dear ASA members —

As Chair of COPSS (Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies), I am writing to solicit nominations for the COPSS Presidents' Award, the FN David Award, and the Snedecor Award.

The COPSS Presidents' Award is given annually to a person under the age of 41, in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession of statistics. This is a high profile award that is intended to highlight innovative and meritorious work by our junior colleagues.

The FN David award is named after Florence Nightingale David, an accomplished statistician and the first recipient of the Elizabeth L. Scott Award. The award, sponsored jointly by COPSS and the Caucus for Women in Statistics, is granted to a female statistician who serves as a role model to other women by her contributions to the profession through excellence in research, leadership of multidisciplinary collaborative groups, statistics education, or service to the professional societies.

The GW Snedecor award, established in 1976, honors an individual who was instrumental in the development of statistical theory in biometry. The award is for a noteworthy publication in biometry within three years of the data of the award.

More info on all of these awards can be found at

    copss.org

ACTION: I am writing to encourage you to nominate an individual for these awards. The process is straightforward: a letter of nomination, a copy of the nominee's CV, and other letters of support (plus the published article for the Snedecor Award) are all that is needed.

The due date for nominations is January 15, 2017. Nominations should be sent to the appropriate committee chair.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and best wishes for the holidays and New Year,

    Nick
