    Position Description

    St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded in 1962, is the first and only cancer center solely focused on pediatric cancer. The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

     

    The Department of Biostatistics at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the Instructor, Assistant or Associate Member (equivalent to Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor) level,  depending on qualifications and experience.

     

    We are looking for candidates with collaborative research interests in psychology, neurocognitive research, cancer clinical trials, clinical and molecular infectious diseases, immunology and basic science research. Desirable candidates should have experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: clinical trial designs focusing on early phase trials, precision oncology trials and pragmatic trials, psychometrics, causal inference, omics data and innovative statistical modeling in clinical and basic science. Expertise of artificial intelligence and machine learning in medicine, and real-world evidence would be a plus. The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to statistical collaborations with medical or basic science investigators, excellent communication skills, and an interest in pursuing independent methodological research. Compensation and benefits are very competitive and commensurate with experience.

     

    The department currently consists of fifty-eight faculty and staff: eleven faculty, three post-doctoral fellows, twenty-five master's level biostatisticians, eight computer scientists and administrative staff.

    Minimum Education: Candidates must have a PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics and a record of peer-reviewed publications showing evidence of (for Instructor and Assistant Member, a potential of) productive methodological research. The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to statistical collaborations with medical or basic science investigators, excellent communication skills, and an interest in pursuing independent methodological research.
