    Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to update you that the ICSA 2017 Symposium organization is in full steam now. Please check our webpage: http://bioinfo.stats.northwestern.edu/~icsa/ regularly for updates and announcements. The symposium features Dr. Xiaoli Meng from Harvard and Dr. Rod Little from University of Michigan as keynote speakers. We will expand career services, connecting job candidates with employers. Next year ICSA will turn 30 years young, so a celebration committee has formed to mark this great milestone, and a panel session has been planned to discuss the past, present and future of ICSA.

Call for invited session proposals. The program committee has received almost a hundred session proposals. Now the online session proposal submission is open. Please go to the program page for available proposals and submit a new proposal online. The deadline is November 15, 2016.  A reminder: The symposium has a one-speaker per person policy, but allows a person to be a speaker and another different role (discussant, chair, panel discussant).

    1. Call for short course proposals. The short course committee is calling for short course proposals. Please send your proposals to symposium2017@icsa.org with a subject “short course proposal”. The deadline is December 21, 2016.
    2. Call papers for student award competition. The Symposium will offer up to 8 awards with travel grants. The deadline is March 15, 2017. Please see the award page for more details.

Look forward to seeing you next June, the most beautiful month at Chicago.

    Best Regards,

     Lanju Zhang
