    Assistant Professor in Biostatistics

     

    The Department of Biostatistics at the Boston University School of Public Health http://sph.bu.edu/bio) seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor position to participate in methodological and collaborative research with Biostatistics faculty and investigators from several potential disciplines.  The Department of Biostatistics comprises 28 full-time faculty, who are internationally recognized for their innovation in research and scholarship in various areas of biostatistics including statistical genetics, clinical trials, surveillance, longitudinal studies, Bayesian statistics and risk prediction.  Biostatistics faculty play leading roles in several large clinical trials and observational studies such as the renowned Framingham Heart Study, Long Life Family Study, Black Women's Health Study, and the Superfund project. Their work has contributed new knowledge on genetic and non-genetic factors for cardiovascular disease, dementia and Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis and arthritis, nutritional epidemiology, healthy aging and extreme longevity. Many of these findings have been effectively translated into current clinical practice. 

     

    The department has a large and successful graduate program, and a federally funded doctoral program for interdisciplinary training of biostatisticians. 

     

    Successful applicants will contribute methodological and collaborative research in exciting areas such as statistical genetics, clinical trials and observational studies, and will also participate in teaching and mentoring students in the MA and PhD programs in Biostatistics and in our Master of Public Health.

     

    Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or other quantitatively oriented field.  Applicants must have a demonstrated research record, a strong commitment to teaching, and strong communication and writing skills.
