    A postdoctoral position in bioinformatics and biostatistics is available immediately at Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine (NIPM), University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Our Institute was just awarded an $11.4 million, 5–year Center of Biomedical Research Excellence P20 Grant from NIH in personalized medicine. The mission of NIPM is working to improve individual and systemic healthcare through translational clinical scientific research, education and workforce training, commercialization of technologies, and job creation. Dr. Wu's research areas will combine bioinformatics, genomics, biostatistics, and epidemiology with medical and health informatics to forward our mission. The candidate will receive training in specific areas of research with the aim of progressing towards an independent career.     The Postdoctoral Scholar will:

    Play a key role in development of research plans, execution, and analysis of projects involving "big data" including electronic medical records, GWAS data, and Federal-funded large cross-sectional data and cohort data.

    Have the opportunity to develop or enhance skills in statistical modeling, GWAS data imputation and analysis, deep learning and big-data analysis related to personalized medicine in a collaborative medical research setting.

    Have the opportunity to be promoted to a Faculty position in the Institute.

    Qualifications:

    A minimum of a Doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D.) is required in bioinformatics, informatics, biostatistics, statistics, computer sciences or a relevant discipline.

    Strong computational skills, including experience scripting and performing analyses of NGS data is required.

    Knowledge and experience in SAS programming, data analysis and statistical modeling are required.

    A background in public health, medicine, biology or a related area of health will be highly preferred.

    The successful candidate will have good communication, writing, and organizational skills and proven ability to work within a team environment.

    The position is available immediately, with a flexible start date. Applications will be assessed as they arrive. Salary will be based on NIH post-doctoral rates and commensurate with experience.
