Dear section members,
Our section is famous for our lively discussions and generous contributions/responses by our members. We are so lucky to have members with various background and wisdoms. In spite of that, some of our members might feel they are too shy to send a message to the entire section or their questions are a little bit personal. To facilitate further communications for situations like those, we are launching a new mentoring program.
Unlike regular mentoring programs in which people are paired up and the mentors need to make a long-term commitment, our new program hopes to create a project-based, short-term mentorship (thanks to the idea from Michiko Wolcott). We are hoping to create a platform such that if you have a particular question that you feel a personal communication would be helpful, you can send in a request through the platform. One of the mentors who have signed up would pick it up and the two of you could work together on that project/question for a short-period of time. Technically, your mentor-mentee relationship ends when the problem is solved and if you have a new question you might have a new mentor, but if mutually agreed, you two can maintain a longer term interaction. We hope that this new program could greatly reduce the time commitment of mentors therefore more people would be willing to serve as a mentor, and the pairing is more targeted and effective.
To make this happen, we would need the generous support from all of you. If you are willing to serve as a potential mentor, please fill out your information here:
Consulting Mentors. You will get an email notification when someone sends in a request.
We will send more information as we gather enough potential mentors.
Thanks a lot for your support.
Best,
Maggie
