Journal of Applied Statistics (https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/cjas20/current?utm_source=CPB&utm_medium=cms&utm_campaign=JPD14571)  invites submissions for a special issue on  Statistical Approaches for Big Data and Machine Learning. The submission deadline is September 30, 2020. The expected publication date of the special issue is March 30, 2021.  The details of the special issue can be found from the link https://think.taylorandfrancis.com/special_issues/statistical-big-data/.

The guest editors solicit results mainly concerning recent advances and challenges in both the theory and applications of applied statistics to bioinformatics, predictions on COVID-19 outbreak, business and finance, intelligent decision support systems, biomedical research,
etc., based on big data, such as development of novel intelligent decision-making methods for social networks analysis, web mining. With respect to techniques,  a special emphasis will be particularly put on the context of big data, fuzzy decision-making, statistical data analysis, machine learning (including deep learning), etc.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

1. Predictions on COVID-19 outbreak using advanced machine learning methods.

2. Statistical big data analysis for intelligent decision-making systems,

3. Fuzzy logic and fuzzy decision-making based on statistical data analysis,

4. Data mining tools and statistical techniques,

5. Machine learning based on statistical data analysis,

6. Bayesian analysis with applications in biomedical research,

Submission Instructions

a. Please select "Statistical Approaches for Big Data and Machine Learning” when submitting your paper to ScholarOne.

b. The submissions to the special issue may be of the three types of JAS articles: Application Note, Original Research Paper, and Review Article.  The most of the submissions should be of Application Note or Original Research paper type. Please note all three types of articles are of original research.  Papers in which the authors apply some methods/algorithms from computer science to analyze a data, by using some existing statistical methods or they apply basic  statistics methods to analyze an interesting data in computer science/enginnering, etc., belong to the article type of Application Note paper in JAS.

c. Preferably, the submissions should be written by using the LaTex template available at here:
https://www.tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?show=instructions&journalCode=cjas20#formatting.
