Call for Papers
Introduction
In light of ever-increasing business dynamics and environmental uncertainties, management of resources has become a matter of critical importance for every organization, be it for profit or not for profit. In this context, the area of Operations Management can play a pivotal role in the efficient and effective utilization of resources and their conversion into desired products and services. The Annual International Conference of the Society of Operations Management (SOM) is held every year to disseminate knowledge and share new ideas and innovations in managing manufacturing and service operations for businesses as well as for governments, NGOs and other non-profit organizations.
Objective
The objective of the Conference would be to provide participants with a platform to disseminate and share knowledge and experiences through the presentation of research papers, panel discussions, and one-on-one or group meetings. Papers addressing a broader area of Operations Management and the interfaces between Operations Management and other disciplines of Management are also welcome. While, on the one hand, participants will be exposed to new theoretical developments in the field, on the other hand, they will be exposed to practical applications of theories through real-life examples and case studies. Since the conference will be a congregation of academicians, practitioners, doctoral students and other researchers, both theories and practices of Operations Management will get due prominence and are expected to complement each other during the course of the Conference.
Topics
The 2017 SOM Conference invites academicians, researchers, doctoral students and practitioners to submit theoretical and empirical papers and case studies on any other broad area of Operations Management. Also, theoretical papers with examples of real-life applications of theory will get preference over papers with only theoretical contributions. About SOM
The Society of Operations Management (SOM), a professional society based in India, that has been undertaking the task of bringing professionals from academic and industry together to help develop the professional field of Operation Management in Asia. It was formally established in 2000 though it has been operating informally since 1997. The primary purpose of this group is to support, participate and encourage research and teaching in Operation Management and to enhance the practice of operations management. It believes that globalization will require developing excellence in operations and generation and dissemination of new knowledge and this will have to be done collectively. It organizes an annual conference, doctoral seminars and industry-academic workshops.
