Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University (NCSU) is jointly organizing the
2011 International Conference on Probability, Statistics, and Data Analysis with the
International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) in the newly built state-of-art
SAS Hall
located on the NCSU north campus and the banquet with evening functions
will take place in the nearby McKimmon Center on April 23, 2011. The
conference is co-sponsored by the
National Science Foundation (NSF), American Statistical Association (ASA) and its
North Carolina Chapter,
National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS), SAS, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) among others with local support from the
College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PAMS) and
College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS)
at NCSU. The conference serves as the official meeting of the IISA, and
provides its members a unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas.
The
objective of the conference is to bring together both well established
and emerging young researchers from around the world who are actively
pursuing theoretical and methodological research in statistics and their
applications in various allied fields. The format of the conference
includes plenary sessions, special invited sessions and invited
sessions. In addition, special sessions on panel discussion, student
paper competition and poster sessions will be held, which will provide a
tremendous opportunity for local researchers (junior faculty, graduate
and undergraduate students) not only to showcase their research work but
also benefit from some special sessions devoted to statistics education
and funding opportunities.

- Prof. S.R.S Varadhan, New York University
- Prof. Peter Hall, University of Melbourne
- Prof. Michael Jordan, University of California, Berkeley
- Prof. Sally Morton, University of Pittsburgh
The special invited speakers include
Marie Davidian (NCSU),
Greg Campbell (Food and Drug Administration),
Nilanjan Chatterjee (National Cancer Institute),
Rabi Bhattacharya (University of Arizona),
Malay Ghosh (University of Florida) and
Noel Cressie (Ohio State University). There will be nearly other 140 invited and contributed talks each of 25-30 minute duration.
The
registration fee has been kept very nominal at $250 for IISA members
($275 for non-members) to encourage a wide range of participation. The
registration fee for students and permanent residents of developing
countries (e.g., India) has been kept at a very nominal amount of only
$130 for IISA members ($155 for non-members) for a three-day conference
which includes most meals (welcome reception, three lunches,
refreshments and a banquet) and conference materials.
