We are excited to announce that the 2018 Electronic Conference on TeachingStatistics (eCOTS) will be held online May 21-25, 2018, and is currentlyaccepting proposals for breakout sessions, virtual posters, andbirds-of-a-feather discussions. This year's online conference is hostedby the Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate StatisticsEducation (CAUSE) and focuses on statistics education at all levels andtypes of learning institutions: secondary school, two-year/communitycolleges, and four year liberal arts and research universities.The conference theme is "Data Science for All". Recently, we have seen arise in data scientist (or related) positions in industry as well as aboom in data science graduate and undergraduate programs. How shouldstatistics educators and students respond? What curriculum should weteach? How should we teach it? Have the goals of statistics educationchanged? If so, how?This conference is for anyone who teaches or studies statistics or datascience. We have already started putting together a diverse set ofexciting keynote speakers who work across different areas in statisticsand data science education. Sessions will range from ideas forincorporating statistics and/or data science concepts into all curricularlevels (K-12, two-year colleges, four-year colleges, graduate programs) toproviding interactive data and learning opportunities for all statisticsstudents and educators to building certificates and degree programs thatinclude data science. Panel discussions will include describing datascience and statistics education, a look at the state-of-the-art in onlinestatistics education tools, and the future of statistics education,including funding opportunities. Virtual posters will showcase thecurrent broad range of work in "Statistics and/or Data Science for K-16and Beyond". The conference website will also include a repository ofrelated available statistics and data science resources for attendees aswell as the general public.Proposals should be related to the conference theme will be givenpriority, but proposals related to all aspects of statistics and datascience education are welcome.
