    September 22-23, 2021: The free BLS-sponsored Consumption Symposium will feature outside researchers and BLS staff presentations. This symposium is designed to gather researchers to discuss possible approaches that can be used by the BLS to produce a consumer unit (CU) level consumption measure. While such a measure can begin with expenditure data from the CE, additional data are needed to produce a consumption measure that is more reflective of how CUs use resources (e.g., income, wealth, time, in-kind benefits) to meet their needs.

    After the symposium, attendees will be able to better understand the challenges of measuring consumption at the CU level and be more aware of approaches to overcome those challenges by integrating data and imputation.

    To register, please complete and submit your registration to the symposium organizers at DPINR_Symposium@bls.gov. Registration is open until September 1, 2021. There are no fees to register for the event.
