    Each year, the Washington Statistical Society, WESTAT and the National Agricultural Statistical Service co-sponsor a distinguished lecture in honor of Morris Hansen, who had a long and illustrious career at the Census Bureau and as a theorist and practitioner of Sample Surveys in the federal statistical system.
     
    The 25th Annual Morris Hansen Lecture will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015, with the lecture commencing at 3:30 p.m. in the USDA’s Jefferson Auditorium.  A small reception on USDA’s Whitten Patio will follow the lecture.  This year's Hansen Lecturer is Dr. Steve Thompson, Shrum Chair in Science, Professor of Statistics, Simon Fraser University.  The title of the lecture is “Adaptive and Network Sampling in Changing Populations”.  We have two discussants for Dr. Thompson’s lecture, Dr. Mark S. Handcock, Professor and Chair of Statistics, University California Los Angeles, and Dr. Andrew Gelman, Professor of Statistics and Political Science and Director of the Applied Statistics Center, Columbia University.  A flyer containing the abstract for the Lecture can be found at http://washingtonstatisticalsociety.org/hansen/20151117_hansen_flyer.pdf .
     
    Registration for the Morris Hansen Lecture is requested.  Due to security issues, the USDA Security Office has requested a listing of all the participants of the Lecture.  Everyone will be cleared through building security at Wing 3.  Photo ID is required to enter the building, please allow 20 – 30 minutes to go through the security check point.  Individuals not on the registration list will also enter Wing 3.
