Committee on Energy Statistics

The American Statistical Association Advisory Committee on Energy Statistics provides technical advice to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) at annual or semi-annual meetings. Some of the types of problems with which it may be concerned, by way of review and advice, would include the design of energy accounts, the improvement of forecasting and analytic models, the balance between field force size for collecting data and benefits derived, the character of an energy management information system, and the efficiency of various survey methods.

These meetings are held once or twice per year, as scheduled, and may be in-person or virtual. Sessions are a combination of EIA briefings and technical discussions intended to solicit technical advice from the committee members, who are primarily mathematical statisticians, survey statisticians, economists, and energy analysts.
