SSPA Blog: How to subscribe to ASA Blogs

Way back when, the Chicago PBS station used to feature Monty Python cast members shouting "SUBSCRIBE" - and other invocations - as a lure to get viewers to pony up some dollars to support the station (WTTW, Channel 11).

Thankfully, no money need change hands for proud members of the Section for Statistial Programmers and Analysist to subscribe to the frequent blog entries that various members (and othe ASA members) have posted over the past several months.

To subscribe, use an RSS feed application (such as Google Reader or the RSS part of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook). The RSS URL for the ASA's blog posts is:

http://community.amstat.org/AMSTAT/AMSTAT/MyProfile/RSSGenerator/Default.aspx?UserKey=d614ec0a-526c-499a-8553-aa2df60774c8

For example:

Within Outlook 2007, here's what to do:

            1. Copy the RSS link above

            2. In Outlook, right-click on the "RSS Feeds" folder within your main Mailbox

            3. Of the choices you see, select "Add a New RSS Feed ..."

            4. Paste in the link you've copied and click "Add"

Within Internet Explorer 8, here's what to do:

            1. Click the RSS link above

            2. Click the "Subscribe to this feed" link near the top of the page

            3. In the pop-up box, click "Subscribe"

            4. The ASA RSS Feed will appear in the "Favorites" button of IE, in the "Feeds" tab

[ and you can check out Wikipedia for a longer discussion of RSS ]

Thank you for your subscription!
