SPES is pleased to announce “Methods for Designing & Analyzing Mixture Experiments”, a short course by John Cornell and Greg Piepel to be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in advance of the Fall Technical Conference in San Antonio. Mixture experiments involve changing the proportions of the components of a mixture that make up a product and then observing the resulting changes in the product’s characteristics, and this short course will provide an overview of various approaches and methods used in designing and analyzing these experiments. The course is designed for anyone (statistician or non-statistician) wanting to know about these statistical methods.
Prof. John Cornell is Professor Emeritus with the Department of Statistics and Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Florida. He has worked as a consultant in the area of mixture experiments for the past 45 years and has been an active researcher, with over 150 publications in mixture experiments and other areas. He is the author of the text Experiments with Mixtures (3rd edition, 2002) and is a Fellow of the ASA and the ASQ. Dr. Greg Piepel is a Laboratory Fellow in the Applied Statistics and Computational Analysis group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory operated by Battelle. He has applied mixture experiment techniques to a wide variety of problems over the past 33 years and has also been an active researcher in the mixture experiment field with over 130 publications and technical reports in mixture experiments and other areas. Dr. Piepel is a Fellow of ASA.
