The award is presented at a Chicago ASA dinner. The awardee will give a brief presentation of lessons they've learned in the advancement of the effective use of data or challenges to the statistical community on how we can become more effective in advocating the use of data and facilitating appropriate use. Recognizing the importance of promoting the successful application and advocacy of statistics, the press is to be invited as guests to the dinner, and/or, with the speaker's permission, granted a brief press conference before the reception and dinner. The event should be well publicized and the award winner’s talk widely distributed. Budget covers travel and overnight accommodations for the recipient (and spouse). The Chapter Treasury funds the award with expenses partially offset by ticket sales.
