The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University seeks candidates to join a successful program of research and evaluation focused on maternal and infant health and women’s health.  Candidates will have experience with advanced research design and statistical modeling and the management of large research datasets.  Abilities to provide leadership in expansion, maintenance, and utilization of research and evaluation databases, including experience with linked disparate data sets at the individual level from public health, Medicaid claims, health system, and community program data, is desired.   

Candidates will collaborate with teams of investigators to conduct research that addresses population and health systems, health services, behavioral health, Medicaid, and implementation and dissemination science (practice and program) research.  Collaborators include the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, health systems partners, and College of Human Medicine and Michigan State University faculty from multiple disciplines.  Evidence of collaborations with health systems and state health departments, experience in health disparities research, and prior publications as lead author in peer-reviewed research journals are advantages.

Qualifications

A Doctorate degree in a health related field, such as biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or economics with strong quantitative skills, and expertise in maternal and infant health and women’s health research and evaluation is required.  Management and analytical experience with large and warehouse-type datasets and health claims data is required.

Candidates must have a broad knowledge of design and approaches pertinent to experimental, quasi-experimental, and observational studies with knowledge and skills related to applied statistical methods and statistical software.   Candidates will consult with and oversee work of project data analysts on funded projects.  A demonstrated ability to interpret and present data analysis results via written reports, briefings, and oral presentations is necessary.   Evidence of successful external evaluation and/or research projects products is an advantage.  Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in English and have a proven ability to work independently.
