CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENTS

2022-2023 OCLBASA Robert L. Newcomb Fellow of the Chapter

The 2022-2023 OCLBASA Robert L. Newcomb Fellow of the Chapter Awardee is...

Ms. Lindsay Brock

Ms. Lindsay Brock has been an active and engaged member of the OCLBASA Chapter ever since she joined the chapter. Lindsay is a graduate of the MS Statistics program at California State University – Fullerton. Lindsay is a very dedicated member of the chapter. She doesn’t just show up at events. She works for the chapter. In many instances, Lindsay has served as the glue that holds committees together. For instance, Lindsay attended and facilitated every meeting for the Virtual Mock Interview Program and the 2023 Careers Day. She not only facilitated the meetings, but she offered ideas and results. She is always willing to take on every task she is asked to do and follows through on every commitment. We cannot think of any event or chapter meeting we have had in the past few years, especially during the pandemic, that Lindsay did not attend or help organize. For that, we are genuinely grateful for her dedication and support of the chapter. We cannot imagine the chapter without her. She has been the Chapter Secretary as far as any of us can remember. Lindsay’s energy and passion are infectious. She elevates the mood wherever she goes and attracts others to be part of our chapter. Lindsay has done tremendous service to our chapter that genuinely embodies the chapter concerning community development, career development, and academic development. We all believe Ms. Lindsay Brock deserves to receive the 2022-2023 OCLBASA Robert L. Newcomb's Fellow of the Chapter award. Congratulations, Ms. Lindsay Brock!

OCLBASA Online Practice Interview Program
We are launching our Chapter's newest program: Online Practice Interviews. These interviews are based on the popular mock interviews at the Chapter's annual Careers Day for several years. We are offering three kinds of interviews.
  • An interview based on one of three mock job descriptions (in Biostatistics, Business Analytics, and Data Science),
  • If an interviewee is seeking a specific position and can provide the associated job description, we shall work to arrange an online practice interview based on that job description.
  • If an interviewee is simply interested in one of a variety of professional roles in which statisticians are frequently employed and wants to learn more about the nature of that work, we shall work to arrange a conversation with someone with experience in at least one of those roles.
We have volunteer interviewers from Data Science, Biostatistics, Business Analytics, and Market Research.

If you can benefit from such an interview, please submit your request at
https://www.hinerpartners.com/surveys/ASAAAP/login.html

Volunteers support all Chapter activities. If you or someone you know would be willing to volunteer as an online practice interviewer, please have that person complete our Online Interview Volunteer Survey at
