July 9, 2012
Dear Members of the Chicago Chapter of the ASA:
It’s an honor for me to serve as your president through the end of 2012 and the first half of 2013—The International Year of Statistics.
The International Year of Statistics ("Statistics2013") is a worldwide celebration and recognition of the contributions of statistical science—in other words, an entire year devoted to the subject we know and love best.
CCASA is uniquely positioned to help celebrate Statistics2013, by providing world-class opportunities to our membership for learning, professional development, and networking.
As president, my primary goal is to build a better communication bridge to our membership. We will leverage our internal database and the best social networking tools available to:
- improve communications between our members, the chapter, and the national ASA.
- increase business networking opportunities.
- engage our membership in new, exciting, and enriching programming experiences.
- encourage use of the excellent free tools and online learning options available from both our local and national ASA organizations.
- spread awareness of the vital role statisticians play in the Chicago area and throughout the global economy.
This is probably the most exciting time in history to be part of the statistical world, and I’m excited to move forward with you into The Year of Statistics. It promises to be one for the record books. I encourage you to participate fully in all we have to offer and to give us feedback on how we can serve you better.
Sincerely,
Linda Burtch
Chicago Chapter ASA President 2012-2013
